good evening everybody this is mark here at discover your home it's a wonderful tuesday night just want to reach out to you guys and talk to you a little bit about some of the projects that we have got going on and some of the things that we see when we are working in homes of our fellow americans so tonight we're going to talk a little bit about using

the benefits of a mirror and using them in the entry area of your home so or the foyer depending upon your how you want to describe it the beautiful thing about mirrors and you know mirrors were real popular back in the 70s and 80s kind of that smokey look those are not necessarily coming back not that we have

have seen but the use of mirrors has really come back because you can get real creative with them there's a there's a lot available out out in the marketplace for you as far as size, dimension, shapes, you name it what you trim the the mirrors out with so we can talk a little bit about that here in a little bit the great thing about mirrors

are it really expands the size of the room you'd be quite surprised on how much it makes a room feel bigger but it makes it feel bigger it also reflects so much more light if you've got a beautiful chandelier in your in your foyer and you've got a couple you've got a couple mirrors in

there it also gives off that much more light in the room and a lot of times what we're seeing now is the types of mirrors that are out there going from small to large we find that a lot of folks that that have them use them kind of for a utility purpose a lot of times i'm that entry on that foyer closet door open it up put a put a

door mirror on the back back of the door so as you're walking out kind of check you know the you know if you got a little parsley in your teeth or anything like that you know kind of check yourself out make sure you look good before you hit the street so what we're seeing is in a couple occasions depending upon how

the layout of your entryway is a nice you know six, seven probably between seven and eight foot mirror framed out looks beautiful laid out done well something that kind of complements your existing trim work you can use we find that a lot of the kind of the old the old crate wood that's you know kind of if you know old barn wood

you can do, metals we find that you know whatever is open to your imagination you can kind of go ahead and do it on the trim of your mirrors a lot of what we've been doing is any sort of like if we're doing some cabinetry, wrapping the edges of the mirror with a complimentary piece of trim that kind of goes along with the cabinetry so we'll

have the cabinet maker or we will even make on-site a picture frame for it and go ahead and hang it a lot of times it has to be fastened in a couple different ways so you want to make sure it's fastened properly but it really does kind of add to the room and it adds a feel volume to the room you'd be surprised at you know how often you do

stop by it at that mirror and kind of checked it just as see as you're going out the door what what you look like and if you're all put together so you're you're gonna see you know nowadays probably a lot more antiqued frames you're seeing people kind of really personalize it and be able to make sure that they kind of put

it in a way that works for them a collage of mirrors not just one but say three or four spaced properly with depending upon the types of frames or their it's a contemporary frame, an antique frame, painted, stained there's no rule to it i mean it's just a really way for you to almost instead of hanging a picture it's just a nice alternative and

and we're finding that a lot of a lot of our customers are going ahead and putting them in mirrors are not inexpensive if you buy a good quality mirror with polished edges you know a smaller mirrors gonna run you a hundred to several hundred dollars depending upon the size but you know there again go you'd be surprised you can go ahead

and find some old mirrors sometimes folks like the antique look to them because you'll pay extra for that antique look but sometimes you can go you know if you're out antiquing or whatever you can go ahead and find yourself one and then frame it and put it up in the entryway it really does make a yeah it has a stunning appeal to

it so the floor-to-ceiling mirror you don't see terribly often in a two-story foyer you're gonna see probably an 8-foot high frame and really kind of encompasses you know pretty good size roughly about a four by eight sheet of say like a piece of drywall so it's it's going to be pretty sizable but it really is it gives a very

magnificent look to the room it really kind of fills out the space when you're going ahead and you're putting it right say right next to the door or an area that's close to the front door so hopefully that's a little tidbit there for you as far as information goes on mirrors make it unique make it personal make it useful and make it decorative so
