>> yes sir.>> living room- they rent there, they're engaged. the onlything i have to say to you is blue walls. >> hi, my name is andrea. i live in sherman oaks, california withmy fiancã© earl. when we first moved into this roomwe were much younger so we had the early and mid-twenty's budget. and we had to sort of get the budget furniture, and it has not aged well- [laugh] to say the least.

we really want something moresophisticated and grown up. we want to entertain people as a married couple. so it's really important to us that we get something that sort of speaks to the adults we've become. >> andrea and earl's grand design calls for updated furniture throughout the space, new ways to display the couple's artwork, and a blending of their two styles,cohesively. >> hi guys!>> hello! >> hello, hello!>> john and anthony, oh my god.

come on in you guys.>> come on, let's see it. >> alright. my very humble abode.>> [laugh] >> tell me about this coffee table. >> so this table came with mewhen i moved. >> does earl like this?>> oh he- >> or he likes- no.>> every day he's like, can we just get rid of the marbles? and i'm like no honey,it's part of a cohesive look. >> we'll remove all the existing furniture in the space,

and replace them with new piecesthat more closely match andrea and earl's style. we'll repaint the room with cool, monochromaticcolors for a fresh design aesthetic. and we'll add some of the couple'spersonal pieces of artwork to really tie the room together. >> alright, so as far as the color goes-we have to tone this down. [laugh]i'm thinking something in the greytaupe family. behr premium plus ultra line has theprimer and paint in one. this is a pretty good sized room->> yeah.

>> it will cut down our time, we can bang it out fast. >> and the ultra line is also stainand scuff resistance. so that's nice.>> perfect. >> the hardest part of staying within thebudget with this particular room is the fact that they need new furniture. >> we have to find something that we canrepurpose, reuse- it's going to get tight on this one. >> when you have an $1,000 budgetand furniture is in the equation you gotta start digging.

>> ah, look at that.>> we're already beautiful. see yah later blue. >> but really, that takes the blue out. i mean, it's gone.[music] >> that coffee table that earl hatedis a great piece that we're going to use. so, we're actually refinishing this beautiful piece. and i think it's going to end up beinga new statement piece. >> that's a great color.>> when you're on a tight budget, look at old furniture in a new light. a fresh coat of painton an old table can make it shine like you've never imagined before.

>> this rug is dong us a huge benefit.love this pattern. when you're in a rental and you havewall-to-wall carpeting, you really want to make the spaceyour own, go with a large area rug. it really makes it unique. the space looks so sophisticated now. bringing in the new taupe color, bringing in the new elements of thefurniture, this is what it's about- this is relaxation when they come homefrom those long days, kick their feet up,and really just relax.

[laugh]>> this is crazy. earl took every one of these shots. >> and you told me that, but they were scaled wrong. >> yeah.>> you know, you guys printed them small- it's a big wall, so printing them biggerallows them to really shine. i mean, they're great photos.>> beautiful photos, beautiful photos. >> like, this is, this is insane.this is an entirely different space! this couch is to die for.

i can not believe i live in a place this classy. like, i feel like i'm on the set of mad men. i feel like a grown, sexy adult in this place.this is crazy. >> can we just take a look at this?>> [laugh] >> what is this?>> this is the same table. >> yes!>> this is my crappy table and you guys- >> so first of all->> it's not a crappy table. >> this is a beautiful table.>> it's like a beautiful antique that you have. >> that i ruined!>> yes.
