♪ one of my favorite things about pier 1, it’s the home town team. it’s a great company with a national presence in ft worth, tx. it’s an amazing amount of technology required to run a business this big. we have over 1,050 stores. we move product from 30+ different countries all over the world. i love the merchandise. i love what we sell, so every day is an opportunity to build systems that enable our business to be successful.

pier 1 is on a really aggressive trajectory to grow our company. we have announced publicly that we are going to invest 200 million dollars in stores and technology. for us what that means is innovation. innovation isn’t just tablets or the latest switch or router or computer. innovation is about how we get the work done. so we’ve really embraced project management at pier 1. we have points and times through the day where the sole purpose is to stand up around a table, and collaborate through a particular situation

and we stand up so that we don’t grow roots. we work very closely with our business partners. although everybody is on a specific team, if someone has a skill set for a project on another team, they will go on loan to that team, as a developer that’s very encouraging. if you’re good, if you’re inspired, if you’re capable, you’re going to have a lot of opportunity to move around and do different things. pier 1’s a very collaborative work environment.

we accomplish a lot. so it’s a really nice balance for us of getting a lot done, having fun and working together. what makes pier 1 the best at everything really, is the people. the combinations of their skill sets and their passions and their personalities, that’s what makes us successful here. when you come to work for a company that’s doing well, that’s investing in technology, that believes in technology, what a great place to work.
